Special Presentation: OUR FORESTS’ FUTURE:
What’s happening in our woods? How are trees and wildlife adapting to the changes?
We can all see, feel, and hear the changing climate around us – hotter, drier summers, warmer winters, severe storms that ravage our coastline, more ticks in the woods, more invasive plants spreading across our meadows. How can we help trees and their forest habitats adapt to these changes and become resilient to future conditions? How can we help bird species thrive? How can you assess the health of the woodlands around you? What types of jobs can you do to help support the long-term health of the woods?
Our presenter will also lead participants into the woods with Cape Elizabeth 7th Graders who are participating in CELT’s place-based programs at Turkey Hill Farm to conduct a ‘Handy Habitat Assessment.’
