2016 Paint for Preservation Details Announced and Call for Artists Released
The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust will hold Paint for Preservation 2016, its ninth annual Wet Paint Auction and reception, on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The event will be held in a new venue this year – Spurwink Farm, a scenic horse farm overlooking Higgins Beach and the Spurwink Marsh in Cape Elizabeth – and will be hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Phineas Sprague. Enjoy live music, refreshments, catered hors d’oeuvres, art, and a lively auction all in a lovely setting.
As one of the most anticipated Wet Paint Auctions in Maine each summer, Paint for Preservation presents a diverse collection of works by highly accomplished artists. During the weekend of the event, selected artists will paint en plein air at designated public and private locations chosen to highlight Cape Elizabeth’s natural beauty.
In the evening, a live auction and cocktail reception will be held and the newly painted pieces will be sold in competitive bidding for the unique and beautiful depictions of our natural world. The proceeds benefit the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust’s initiative, Saving Cape’s Great Places, to permanently preserve local strategic conservation land.
