September 13th through 22nd, 2019
Thousands of Mainers are participating in this year’s “Great Maine Outdoor Week” with outdoor events all over the state to celebrate autumn. Most are family and beginner friendly, and many are free. Activities include sea kayak and canoe tours, hikes, nature walks, trail running, paddleboarding, rock climbing and festivals. On Monday, CELT hosted an exploration of the ecology at our Trundy Point Preserve.
Originally organized by the Maine Outdoor Coalition, this biannual event began as just one weekend but has expanded to a full week each September and February. Events are led by outdoor oriented organizations and companies to celebrate the how, where, and what of being active outside in Maine. The goal is to connect friends and neighbors with the natural world, to promote fun, physical activity, and good health.
It’s not too late to get outside and explore – Visit Maine Trail Finder for a list of activities over the next few days and throughout the fall.
