The Marsh Trail is now officially open! CELT staff tested it out last month on a walk, and now the signs are placed to guide visitors where to walk. It can be accessed from the Cross Hill trail that connects Appletree Lane to Wells Road in Cape Elizabeth (see map below). Now, hikers can cross the street and continue walking down the hill on the new trails to see the vista overlooking Town Farm marshlands.
This new trail was made possible thanks to the conservation easement donated to CELT that protects land now spanning three parcels off Wells Rd, with a specific allowance for public pedestrian footpaths. Dogs, bikes, and other vehicles are not allowed on the new trail. In partnering with the neighbors, the CELT Summer Stewardship Assistant Nick Martin was able to successfully complete constructing the trail this past summer.
Thanks to all who contributed to protecting this natural space, creating the trails, and expanding opportunities for public access across Cape Elizabeth.
