Thanks Alison! - Cape Elizabeth Land Trust

Thanks Alison!

At the end of September, the CELT Board bade “farewell and thank you” to Alison Darling after more than 10 years of Board service, but her commitment to CELT goes back much farther than that. Alison and her husband, Ted, moved to Cape after their first daughter was born, because of the open land and community feel. So, when she heard that the beautiful old woods behind her home was going to be developed, she got involved with the land trust in the early 2000’s. She’s been an active member ever since.

“I really appreciate the small-town feel, the farms, and the rural character found here. Where else can you have acres of trails and open areas to enjoy year-round?”

Alison first started CELT’s Harvest Party, an event that ran for 10 years.  She joined CELT’s Board in 2014. She served on the Forever Cape Campaign Cabinet and has helped over the years with Membership & Development, Marketing, and most recently with the Paint for Preservation Committee, where she rocked the boat recruiting sponsors.

CELT’s Board President, Liz Murley, noted that “On the Board, Alison has been a true connector, as “generations” of Board members have served CELT over the last decade. She is not afraid to ask a hard question, and she often reminds us of our history. It felt quite strange to have our first Board meeting of the new (fiscal) year without her!”

In her professional life, Alison is focused on the great indoors. She’s an interior designer with private clients from Maine to New York. Outside of work, Alison is out in her garden or on CELT trails, especially in Robinson Woods. We’re grateful for her sharing of her passion and commitment to the organization and are glad that she won’t be going too far, since she has joined CELT’s Advisory Council and will be helping to promote our 40th Anniversary!  Her passion for the organization and her community has endured, as has her commitment to help out wherever needed.
